The Dawn of War

As we approached the battle field, hearts were pounding heavily, palms were sweating
and confidence was rising. This was it. This was where Vybz Machine would prove to
the other sound systems that although they were new, so to speak, they were tough
and ready for war.

The battle ground was packed to capacity with Gangsta Shack followers, Vybz Machine
followers and people who just loved reggae music and were not partial to any sound.
Many of Vybz Machine?s soldiers were sporting army fatigues in various colors and
styles, blowing whistles with immense force and standing by the side of Vybz
Machine
. Gangsta Shack?s soldiers were dressed in an array of fashionable styles and
standing in front of his sound, with horns and lighters.

Going into the war, the competition between the sounds was fierce. Gangsta Shack
claimed to be Vybz Machine's teacher; they felt that only the teacher could teach.
But, as the night progressed, the saying ?The [child] student shall lead the way?
became ever so truthful.

Vybz machine murdered Gangsta Shack with up to date Dubbs, from top artists with
tunes such as TOK?s ?Footprints? and Fantom Mojah?s ?Hail The King,?
which required a foreword. Gangsta Shack played many foundation tunes by artist such
as Alton Ellis and Dawn Penn, but, he didn?t play tunes that everyone in the crowd
was familiar with. In determining the winner, the crowd decides. If you don?t play
for the crowd then the judgment is DEATH!?.

Gangsta Shack played wicked old school Dubs. Tunes that were indeed top of the
charts in the eighties?s and would require a foreword more than once, but in Safari in
the year 2005 they got a nostalgic head nod and for some who didn?t know the tune, a
shrugged shoulder. Indeed, it was an honorable battle. A battle that proved
victorious for the up and coming sound system. A lesson that we must all learn, ?the
student can also teach the teacher.? Both sounds played with immense fervor, but
the sound that won the crowd over was Vybz Machine.

Beloved Empress
